Today is World Ataxia Awareness Day. Ataxia is a degenerative disease of the nervous system. It can have several symptoms that can mimic being drunk – slurred speech, stumbling, falling and incoordination. All of these symptoms are related to degeneration of the cerebellum – the part of the brain for coordinating movement. Learn more about ataxia from Ataxia.org and contact your NWOPCP provider if you are having any of these signs and symptoms.
